How it works
- Book online and get an email confirmation.
- Come to the pharmacy at your time with your health card. Ask for the pharmacist.
- Private consultation in our consultation room, usually 20 to 30 minutes.
- Leave with a plan: a prescription if appropriate, vaccines, or clear written advice.
Questions about consultations
What can a prescribing pharmacist help with?
Our pharmacists hold Additional Prescribing Authorization from the Alberta College of Pharmacy. They can assess and treat many minor ailments such as strep throat, UTIs, pink eye, cold sores and allergies, renew ongoing prescriptions and adjust doses. For serious or complex conditions we refer you to a doctor.
Is there a fee?
Many pharmacist assessments and medication reviews are covered by Alberta Health for eligible Albertans. Travel consultations and travel vaccines are not covered, and a consultation fee applies. We always tell you the cost before we start, and nothing is paid online.
When should I book a travel consultation?
Eight weeks before you leave is ideal, and three to six weeks still works well for most trips. Some vaccines need more than one dose or a couple of weeks to take effect. If you leave within two weeks, please call the pharmacy instead of booking online so we can fit you in sooner and plan what is still possible.
How does a point-of-care test work?
Choose the test when you book: strep throat (throat swab), UTI (urine sample), COVID-19 or influenza A & B (nasal swab). The pharmacist runs the test in the pharmacy and you get the result in minutes. Tests are $25 each. If treatment is appropriate, our prescribing pharmacist can often prescribe at the same visit.
What should I bring?
Your Alberta Personal Health Card and photo ID. For a medication review, bring everything you take, including over-the-counter products and supplements. For a travel consultation, bring your itinerary and any vaccination records.
Can I just walk in instead?
Yes. Walk-in assessments are welcome during opening hours. Booking guarantees a time and keeps your wait short.
